Kiwaya Ukuleles, aka Famous Ukuleles, are a series of Takumi Ukuleles and are likewise based and made in Japan (they've recently launched Kiwaya USA). These are the only Japanese-built ukuleles available on the US market. The brand, established in 1919, began creating ukuleles in 1957 when Ryoji Okamoto became CEO. Kiwaya is famous for reproducing Martin Ukuleles, receiving high praise for being closely modeled after the original.
