Often called the father of the ukulele, the instrument known as Braguinha or Machete is in the cavaquinho family.
The instrument came to Hawaii in 1879 by way of Portuguese immigrants. The modern ukulele can trace it's roots back to this style of instrument. The braguinha is much the same size of a soprano ukulele.
A fun instrument to play and a must have for any ukulele enthusiast.
Tuning is often d g b d (much like a five string banjo)
